Abstract

This article deals with the problem of clustering North Russian cities on specific socio-demographic characteristics. The K-means method was chosen as the clustering algorithm. This clustering allows us to identify the specifics and important trends in the development of these settlements. The paper presents a cluster analysis of the data of Northern cities on their socio-demographic characteristics. The most informative was the division of all cities into 7 clusters. The division of countries into more clusters will only have a negative impact on the interpretation of the results. These data can be used in further analysis of the qualitative indicator of socio-demographic dynamics in the Northern territories of Russia. The model presented in the paper can be expanded and supplemented with a number of authors ' works
