HISTORICAL CARS AS HISTORICAL HERITAGE TO PRESERVE
Abstract
this article shows how in the last two decades UNESCO had started to recognize the nonprofit international association the Fédération Internationale des éhicules Anciens (FIVA) historical cars as part of its world heritage initiative. FIVA was founded in 1966 and its aim is the preservation, restoration, use and culture of mechanically propelled road vehicles. In 2017, FIVA was recognised by UNESCO as the body for Historical Vehicles and related Culture. The 1895 Carl Benz patent "car with internal combustion engine" was embodied into the UNESCO “Memory of the World” project. In 2020, the Mille Miglia historical car rally committee opened a procedure to have the event included in UNESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Heritage
