Abstract

Among the phenomenons of postmodernism is the highlighting of experience, even exciting approach to all areas of human life. Today's people are flooded by constant repetition of the words "experience", "enjoyment", "to enjoy something" and stressing their necessity for a happy and fulfilling life. Emotionally powerful experience has begun to be considered the key criterion of live faith among many Christian communities and their members, squeezing by a new interpretation of "empirical verifiability" the truths of the Christian faith - the humble acceptance of the Secret. The most dynamically developing group of new movements and communities in the Christian - also Catholic – field of the past 40 years, is the pentecostal or the charismatic form of christianity in which emotions play a key role in attracting and keeping members. Despite the fact that human emotions are intentionally exposed and often abused for various utilitarian objectives of these movements leaders, also in Catholic environment are appearing only apologetic works, presenting this' new form of Christianity "in the best possible light, without perception of problematic issues of charismatic spirituality. Very rarely we see a serious critics explaining the psychological, pedagogical, philosophical or theological risks of this religious phenomenon. Article is analyzing the historical roots of the charismatic movement, giving the philosophical-theological analysis of the most controversial doctrinal contents presented by the movement from the point of view of catholic theology, the analysis and research of the communities of Catholic Charismatic Renewal worked out by the Polish theologians and sociologists of religion, to define some of the most serious risks of the charismatic spirituality of experience in the present christian environment.
