Abstract

As a result of development of information and communication technology, the amounts of available data rapidly glow. In this situation called “Information explosion”, a bunch of researches have been conducted and designed. And I researched some user interface too. Through these researches I developed an ambient user interface making use of slight changes of graphics. The purpose of its interface is providing information so as not to attract user's attention. In this paper, I discuss a new information design for the electronic document, such as doc, html and so on, utilizing what we had learned from the research as it has been mentioned above. Simultaneously I develop an experimental production. The concept of this design is weaving some data into the document. Concretely I propose to add small effect to the words and images in document in correspondence with changes of information over Internet or sensor network. For example, a character “湿”, which means humidity, is displayed with the blur effect depending on the humidity got from weather forecast over internet, a photo of sky is displayed with controlling the brightness depending on the probability of precipitation, and so on. The purpose of this research is to provide additional information through the electronic document without impairing convince and spoiling the readability. Besides, I propose to make the electronic document richer in the emotion. When we write a calligraphy using a brush and ink on Japanese paper, its appearance faintly changes the shape depending on humidity and so on. It is presumed that the change is complicated in the richness. Therefore it is suggested that the document reacted to some information is richer than conventional documents.
