THE ROLE OF COACHER AS A LEADER: WHAT MOTIVATES AN INDIVIDUAL TO LIVE AN ACTIVE LIFE?

Abstract

Coach might be the main link among sportsmen, parents, sport’s federations, the media information and sport’s sponsors. Thus, the role of coach becomes the role of leader who has to think creatively and to plan strategically on the organizational level but at the same time coach as an individual has to stay empathetic as a parent or teacher. Accordingly, coach as a leader has to motivate an individual to make sports activities. In recent years, the scientists have been discussing a lot about importance of making sports activities or in other words – being active in your life. Making sports and having an active life for individual are understood as being and staying healthy all your life. However, this activity has demand for individual’s good will and efforts. Thus, the motivation becomes as an important factor analyzing the role of coach as leader. Accordingly, the purpose of this article is to evaluate personal coach as a leader who motivates an individual to live an active life. Looking from the management perspective coach might be employee or owner of some sport’s or concerning health organization. Thus, coach supposes to be a leader to an individual on the purpose to motivate him/her for active life. The individual is understood by the author of this article as consumer of the service that is suggested by coach. Thus, there is analyzed relation between organization’s leader and his/her consumer. In the article, several methods are used for analyzes: the literature review and the questionnaire with individuals who are making sports activities with the coach.
