USING EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGIES TO ENHANCE LEARNING OF STUDENTS AT FACULTY OF ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING AT UNIVERSITY OF PRISTINA
Abstract
Improving the quality of education, especially in the area of engineering, is a priority for almost all countries. This is owing to the rapid changes in technology and constant demand to prepare students, as engineers of the future, capable of providing solutions to problems and innovations. Therefore, in this context, we should look into the ways of achieving this goal. Educational technologies can benefit both teachers as well as students, in promoting change and in encouraging the development of skills for the XXI century. Therefore, this research is aimed at inquiring the current situation in relation to the use of educational technologies at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at the University of Pristina in terms of the following aspects: the Educational Technologies used by the Faculty in the teaching and learning process; obstacles facing the use of educational technologies; and its effects on student achievement and on effectiveness of teaching by the academic staff. The results of this research highlight the positive effect that the use of educational technologies has in enhancing students learning and their overall performance. In addition, teaching is also affected, resulting with its own improvement. Educational technologies motivate students to learn, making them more cooperative and developing their communication skills. Nevertheless, lack of infrastructure and funds remain obstacle to genuine integration of educational technologies into the teaching and learning activities of the academic staff and the students of the Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Pristina.
