Abstract

There is currently an upward trend in the use of natural plants. Experts recommend the use of natural remedies as an adjunctive to classical therapy, all the more so as the antibacterial action of plant extracts comes up against antibiotic resistance, a problem that dominated the second millennium and seems to persist in an upward trend in the third millennium. The aim of this study was to select the Epilobium parviflorum Schreb species from the many medicinal plants due to its contents in high quantity of biologically active compounds such as tannins, flavonoids, polyphenolic acid and other phenolic constituents; also to extend knowledge about the content of antibacterial substances as well as antibacterial activity of Epilobium parviflorum Schreb on Streptococcus mutans from endodontic infections.
