USING ELECTRONIC EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES FOR TEACHING RUSSIAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE TO MEDICAL STUDENTS

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the effectiveness of electronic educational resources for classes in Russian as a foreign language for medical students. The article analyzes various electronic educational Internet resources, which are used in teaching Russian as a foreign language. The effectiveness of electronic educational resources in teaching Russian as a foreign language to medical students was determined by an experiment conducted in two groups of students of the fourth year of the seventh semester at the Russian Language Department of the PFUR Medical Institute. The students were from different countries: Iran, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Nigeria, Jamaica, and Costa Rica. The first group (10 students) was taught Russian as a foreign language without using electronic educational resources, and the second group (11 students) studied Russian using additional electronic educational resources. To determine the level of the students’ communicative competence, the final testing was conducted. A comparison of the results in both groups clearly showed that the abilities of the students of the experimental group according to all criteria were higher by 25–30% as compared to the students of the control group. The practical utility of the study is that its results, along with the collected material, can be used to create teaching aids and conduct practical courses on Russian as a foreign language for medical students as well as in the system of training and professional development of RFL teachers. The results of the study can also be used for delivering lectures or conducting special courses on the theory and methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language, developing educational materials for medical students, organizing advanced training courses, and exchanging pedagogical experience.
