SOCIO-ECONOMIC POTENTIAL OF SOCIAL WORK WITH FAMILIES WITH A MEMBER WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER (ASD)

Abstract

The authors focused on the analytical work on the autism spectrum, the continuous growth in terms of number of clients of social work and difficulties with mental disabilities - of men, women, children, youth, adults and seniors, is a challenge to the scientific orientation. Precisely it is because of the issues of disadvantaged, communication, therapeutic activities, and economic support for mentally disabled people in their families and society are not paid enough attention. A typical reaction of the family after finding mental disorder is the so-called label biphasic reaction. This is where it comes to public support for mentally ill (i.e. the stereotype of "fool"), a family who is worried and tries by all means "normalize" their behaviour even believe that the victim can cope with it alone. Similarly, the society is only a little engaged in this issue. At the same time, the authors point to many socio-economic implications for social policy that arise as a need to create a social safety net for the family, but with a risk of burden on the state budget. An important instrument here is the social state and its redistribution.
