PSYCHOLINGUISTIC ANALYSIS OF SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT: POLITICALLY ACTIVE ACTORS IN FACEBOOK

Abstract

This article presents the results of a study on the user-generated content and online behavior of political group activists within Facebook's Russian speaking cohort, during the pre-election period. The material comprises 365 politically active groups (as at December 2017 - January 2018), with 496 active users as a core. An interdisciplinary approach was used to gather, refine and classify the data, while psycholinguistic and communicative analysis was adopted to analyze the content. The outcome of the research revealed that the division of active individuals into clusters (3) according to their political views held in the pre-election period did not change when compared to previous periods; although this was not the case for discourse-based behavior and for the type of network interaction.
