THE STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH OF THE POPULATION IN RUSSIA

Abstract

State of reproductive health of the population is the major aspect of the social and demographic development of the country which in many respects defines also the development level of the society as a whole. Without reliable and qualitative information about reproductive population health, first of all — women, without knowledge about their relation to the health, the birth of children, to family values, their estimate of maternity obstetric service it is impossible to pursue successful demographic policy. In 2011 Rosstat together with Ministry of Health of Russia, in partnership with UN Fund in the field of population and the Center for control and prevention of diseases (USA) for the first time in our country conducted examination of reproductive health of women. Examination was conducted in 60 subjects of the Russian Federation where more than ten thousand women were interrogated [1]. The Federal State Statistics Service provided an access to inspection microdata on the basis of which we conducted research of key aspects of reproductive health of the population in Russia. The main emphasis in research was placed on the analysis of the following groups of indicators: • Birth rate and child mortality. • Planning of a family and reproductive perceptions. • Risky behavior concerning health (smoking and alcohol consumption). • Health and behavior of youth. • HIV/AIDS and other STD. On the basis of the received results recommendations for public agencies of Russia on development of the programs directed on improvement of the demographic situation and reproductive health of women were prepared.
