IMPACT OF ADDITIONAL DUTIES OF GOVERNMENT SCHOOL TEACHER ON TEACHING LEARNING PROCESS
Abstract
A teacher is a highly valued personality in a society and teaching is considered to be the most sacred and distinctive profession. History is full of evidence about the nations where education has distinguished progress. The major focus of the research was to study the impact of additional duties of government school teachers on teaching learning process in Pakistan. The main objectives of the study were: (a) to study the importance of professional duties of teachers; (b) to identify the issues related to additional duties of teachers in Pakistan and (c) to ascertain the demanding expectations of government school teachers by the society. The study was descriptive in nature and questionnaire and interview were the main source of gathering information from the respondents. Probability sampling was use to select sample from the population. 80 schools from different areas of southern Punjab were selected as a sample of the study. On the base of analysis of the study it is concluded that teaching learning process is highly effected by the additional duties of the teachers in Pakistan. Most of the teachers were involved in polio campaign, population census, UPE and other irrelevant fields. This study strongly recommended that government should take suitable measures to quality of education.
