THE SUPPORT FOR RADICALISM AND EXTREMISM AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE IN SLOVAKIA
Abstract
The study deals with the current trends of radicalization and support for extremism among young people in Slovakia. The results from previous research projects indicate that the political behavior of current young generation tends to be more related with new trends especially to promote alternative political agenda and solutions. We aim to discuss the findings from qualitative in-depth interviews from two different field work locations in Slovakia and compare these with the nation-wide statistical data from the perspective of supporting the alternative political movements and their agenda. The rationale of the study is to gather and compare the reasons why young people support the extremist measures and what are the motivating factors of young people in dealing with society-wide political and economic issues.
