EDUCATION OF SENIORS AT UNIVERSITIES OF THE THIRD AGE
Abstract
Life-long education is really important nowadays, this idea is probably also linked with establishing of the Universities of the Third Age. It has been proved that study activities have a positive impact on seniors – an active life style helps to lengthen the period preceding that time when elderly citizens´ health complications grow and worsen. The text focuses on the comparison of the organizing principles of U3As, and deals with seniors´ opinions concerning their studying in the U3A courses in foreign languages. Teachers from the University of Hradec Kralove and from the Technical University in Liberec (both having a long tradition in teaching foreign languages to seniors) created a questionnaire distributed to seniors attending U3V courses in foreign languages. The aim of this survey was to find out which activities are the most attractive and which ones are the most problematic for seniors being taught foreign languages.
