SLOVAK REGIONAL PRESS IN DIGITAL ERA
Abstract
Online journalism has become a significant kind of journalistic work quite quickly – media producers as well as recipients of journalistic products have had relatively little time to accept this new situation on the media market. The last three decades have shown that the typology of newspaper reading (and reading as such) is changing dynamically, as well as the attitude of the readers towards the written word – undoubtedly under the influence of rapid development of information technologies or rather as a result of their everyday use. Regional press expresses social culture and civil engagement in that area. While publishers of regional newspaper are generally private publishing companies, local newspapers are usually published by self-governments. Regional print is not just an instrument for spreading information in given region, but also instrument for self-govern regions for self-propagation or raising awareness of local events. The goal of the paper is to uncover the role and evolution of print media in digital era, advancement and adaptation to internet form mainly on younger generations.
