Abstract

In 2019, an outbreak of influenza A virus infection was detected in Romania with subsequent cases observed in many counties. According to the Ministry of Health At the national level, the total number of cases of acute respiratory infections (clinical flu, upper airway respiratory infections and pneumonia) was 52,991, 9.1% higher than in the same week of the previous season (48,546). The latest information from the National Center for Communicable Disease Control within the National Institute of Public Health shows that the number of people who died from influenza in the 2018-2019 season reached 192. Many of them have not been vaccinated for influenza
