“CHILD HATE” AS A FORM OF SOCIAL PARASITISM

Abstract

The article represents partial results of three-year investigation devoted to the childfree phenomenon. The subject of the research is the problem of voluntary refuse from childbearing in modern Russian society and possible consequences of such an ideology. The review of studies devoted to the given subject and the analysis of social researches about family, marriage behavior and reproductive orientations showed that the spreading of the childfree ideology is not able to influence on demographic situation in Russia. However the problem of spreading the childfree ideology actively promoting voluntary refuse from childbearing in modern Russian society is of vital importance and needs special studies. In particular, the sharpest radical manifestation of the voluntary childlessness ideology called “child-hate” should be thoroughly analyzed in the context of social parasitism phenomenon. The reasons of hatred and aggression towards children and everything connected with motherhood, bearing and upbringing children are pointed out by the authors. The content-analysis of forums where child-haters try to reason their position is done. It is stated that such anti-reproductive orientations are often connected with age features of the followers of this ideology. Though these orientations are not stable and can change by education and upbringing they may have great influence on a separate part of society that is the youth. So the authors give parallels to the phenomena of “child hate” and “social parasitism” finding some similar features.
