Latest development of the insurance motor insurance in the central and eastern Europe denote a preoccupation of the insurance companies for the specific risks arising from underwritten policies. Based on a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the Romanian insurance market, the paper is presenting potential tendencies for the future development of the market, with severe implications on the risk management procedures of the insurance companies.
