The purpose of the article is to consider the possibility of using the notion “refraction” in the research of literary translation as a kind of intercultural communication. The author introduces this notion in philosophy of translation in reference with the notion “typological dominant of text”, which is defined as the essential property of a text differentiating it from other types of texts.
